Stablecoin

Synopsis

Founded on the Blockchain technology, Stablecoin links fiat currencies to cryptocurrencies in supporting seamless digital payment, cross-border fund transfers, and cryptocurrency trading. The governments in several jurisdictions are actively researching how Stablecoins should be supported and regulated. It is essential to understand the design and capability of Stablecoin in understanding its application potential and limitations.

In this session, Prof. Hui will provide a managerial overview and practical knowledge on Stablecoin, with an emphasis on its nature, trends of development, and regulatory considerations. We will start with its technological foundation on blockchain and smart contract and then dive into the Stablecoin markets and how it relates to central bank digital currency (CBDC). The session will conclude by identifying and analyzing the boundaries and future potential of Stablecoin as a blockchain-based value-bearing instrument.
